Office Sabotage

The Situation

You have just gotten a promotion in a new area of interest. You have the required educational qualifications and then some. All that is needed is the opportunity to get a start in this field of interest.

You arrive to your new department optimistic to learn; only to hear that someone there was gunning for the position you have been given. However she is not yet qualified academically to meet the educational requirements of the job. However because this person has a lot of experience on the ground level work, she is now depended on to pass on this knowledge to you so that you can have a holistic understanding of how this ground level work feeds into your portfolio of work.

Things Unfold

You are greeted with smiles and apparent friendliness at first, however little inconspicuous incidents take place to make you wonder... am I being SABOTAGED?!

The subordinate beings to misinform you. She, on a number of occasions pass to you incorrect information about processes and procedures. Upon confronting her she claims that she is horrible at relaying information.
A few more situations occur where you sensed mild irritation when giving instructions.

UNTIL the monster, in a flash reveals herself and then quickly goes back into hiding.

You miss something that appears to be an error. Your saboteur could not wait to sound the trumpets!! "Oh hear ye, hear ye a Major catastrophic error has been made! This is going to be bad. Oh hear ye"

She parades herself up and down the office corridors, eagerly awaiting the boss to tell of the error.

The boss arrives and the saboteur does as expected but goes even further as to glorify herself in the process, not caring that you are standing two feet away hearing it all.

Two Faced

But her expectations are dampened on hearing that it really isn't a major error and within the blink of an eye the monster disappears. Five minutes later the sweet friendly version of herself comes to you pretending to be nice and give advice.

 How to Deal?

You have to work with this individual every day.

How should one deal with this?

Do you confront her, to let her know you see her for who she is; a sly snake out with a vengeance?

Do you pretend that all is well and allow this person to go about their mission of sabotage?

Laser Hair Removal: Trinidad Experience

It’s no secret that many of us go to extreme lengths in our journey for perfection! Being female I too have my many experiments in the quest of conquering the so evasive perfection. Yea you can say that you are fine with the way you are but let’s be real here, wouldn't you take up the opportunity to be a little smoother, slimmer, sexier...? One of my many experiments is Laser Hair Removal and I have decided to share my first experience with this new age miracle tool.

So I'm a bit hairy as a lot of women are. Okay okay, I'm extremely hairy, very much more than the average woman. When I say hairy, I don't mean tamed soft feminine, hard to notice hair. I'm talking about black, prickly, coarse hair that would make any man jump out of bed alarmed that there is some creature under the covers! So after my battles with ingrown hair I decided to look into Laser Hair Removal, which is claimed to permanently remove hair. Now this was a fairy tale to me, but desperate times call for......you know the rest.

The Decision
So I did what I do best, I googled Laser Hair Removal in Trinidad and found two places. The Face and Body Clinic and another place called TULIP. I eventually chose The Face and Body Clinic after having consultation with both places, where the specialists looked at my skin to determine if I would be a good candidate for the treatment. Firstly I felt safer as Face and Body Clinic appeared more established, they have been dealing with the laser treatments for some time now so I assumed that they would have an idea of what works and what doesn't, what's safe and what's not. Additionally I felt like I was getting more bang for my buck, although, Laser ain't cheap whichever way you flip the coin.
Pre Treatment
Treatment day and I'm excited and nervous. I was very worried as I have heard horror stories of scarring and of skin lightening in patches from laser treatment (especially people with tan and dark skin tones).I decided to do only lower legs to see if the treatment is worthwhile, so I let the hair grow out on my legs as instructed during my consultation. Oh I should let you know that the darker the hair the better the effects of the laser treatment.
The first part of the process was cleaning the skin to remove any lotion, oils etc.
The Treatment
Finally the technician came into the room to begin the process. Now, not even he was prepared for the level of hairiness!! Hahahaha! He immediately said "for the next treatment you don't have to let it grow out this much". And to think I was actually contemplating postponing my appointment to let it grow out a little more.
The laser basically shoots beams of light which is absorbed by the pigment in hair follicles; as a result it damages the follicles.
Now the advertisements of these treatments claim that it is not painful, just a bit uncomfortable.....LIES, LIES, and LIES!!!!!!!!!!!
The best way that I can describe the feeling of the beams hitting my skin is to compare it to touching the skin with a match stick immediately after outing the fame. I basically felt like I was getting burned. Oh and the smell!! By the end of the treatment the entire room was engulfed in the scent of my burned hair.

Post Treatment
After the treatment my skin looked white, as though there were tiny white blisters, but this immediately disappeared after the technician applied burn cream to the skin which is a normal part of the process. I was also given a couple tubes of burn cream to apply at home over the next couple of days.
My skin actually felt quite normal by the end of that day and I actually only used the burn cream once and decided my skin didn't need it as it was totally fine.
The most intriguing part came within the next couple weeks post treatment. As the hair grew back on my legs they would simply fall off..Yes!.. they would grow out a bit and just fall off. I was amazed. Eventually this stopped and I was able to make a pre-treatment versus post treatment comparison to the level of hair growth.
The verdict?? It worked!!! Now let me first say that multiple treatments are required to totally remove all hair growth and this was my first. I saw a significant reduction in the amount of hair and also the level of coarseness. The hair was less prickly and the best thing is that this is permanent (or at least appears to be). I did this treatment quite some time ago so I can testify that the results are lasting.
I would definitely recommend this treatment, it is worth every cent. I plan to do another treatment soon. Basically anywhere on the body can be treated: Face, Arms, Legs, BIKINI (wink), and Armpits.
The cost will vary according to what you are having done and this will be communicated in your consultation after they look at your issue. My treatment cost about $2400 TTD/$380 USD for lower legs (below knees).
The laser treatment can also be used to reduce pore size and remove scars and marks.
I hope this helped provide some information for those of you who are considering the treatment. This is just an account of my experience, and you should do some research on your own to help decide if this treatment is right for you.
